Jolly Blogger Questions & Answers

1. Do you open your gifts on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day?
open all my gifts on Christmas Day, from my parents and relatives.  But, on Christmas Eve my sister and I each get to open one gift from our parents.

2. Favorite Christmas Song?
My favorite Christmas song right now is Santa Tell me by Ariana Grande. It's so sweet and christmasy ( if that's a word ) I just love it! I also really like Christmas in the Sand by Colbie Callet.  I wish I could spend Christmas at the beach, I'm not a fan of frost!

3. Favorite Christmas/holiday Movie?
Every year starting when I was about 7 I always watch "The year with out a Santa Clause", so I'd say it's my favorite holiday movie.  To this day I still love it and sing along to the songs haha!

4. Favorite Christmas decoration?
My favorite Christmas decoration is defiantly the lights, they are so pretty and light up a room beautifully! I keep some of mine up year round. When people go all out with the lights outside their house it looks so festive! I just love driving by houses in December to see all the lights.

5. Favorite Christmas Food?
Homemade mash potatoes and cranberry sauce, basically my meal for Thanksgiving and Christmas. I can't put into words how much I love this combination, defiantly my favorite holiday food!

6. Favorite Holiday/winter drink?
My favorite holiday drink is of course from Starbucks; The Salted Carmel Mocha Frappe (With soy milk so I don't get a stomach ache).  Yes, most people like warm drinks in the winter, but me, I prefer Frappes.  The Salted Carmel Mocha Frappe is absolutely delicious and I lovveee the carmel chocolate combination!

7. Snow or no snow?
I like a bit of snow, only enough to cover the grass, other wise its too much!  I'm a warm weather kind of person and unfortunately the winters in New Jersey are brutal.

8. Do you send out cards or no cards?
My family sends out cards every year, either including a picture of my sister and I, or of the whole family (sometimes including the dog too).

9. Do you secretly still believe in Santa Clause?
I would say that I believe in the magic that thought of Santa brings to the Holiday season, how excited it makes all the children.  I remember the holidays I would get so excited to see Santa, it was fun and magical to believe.

10. Your favorite winter clothing item?
Hands down my pink Uggs! They are so soft, cozy, and match my girly style exactly!  I've had them for four years now and they still remain my most prized, loved, and worn winter clothing idem.

11. One beauty product that you cannot be without this winter?
My First aid Beauty Ultra repair cream  is my holy grail winter product!  It saves me from the dreaded dry skin and Exama that likes to show up in cold winter weather.

12. Best Christmas Memory?
I have so many Christmas memories that I love, but I'll share one from when I was pretty young.  My whole family would always purchase these santa shaped ginger bread cookies and on christmas eve we would decorate them together with squirting icing and M&Ms.  I look back and remember how much fun it was to decorate these cookies and how much of a mess my sister and I made!

Thats all the Questions for this Award!  I hope you enjoyed reading, and even if I didn't tag you I would still love to read more posts on these questions, so let me know if you do it!  Also, be sure to stop by my Youtube channel and catch up on all the Holiday videos I've been posting!

Style in the Snow; How to keep warm and look great

Snow is cold and wet, but that doesn't mean that you have to abandon wearing something you like.  It just means you have to find cold weather wear that you love! Today I am going to show you how I stay warm and in style while out in the snow.

To start you need a warm, waterproof, winter coat that also has some shape to it. The coat that I am wearing is the Sherpa lined Cami Parka from Abercrombie kids, (All the clothing pictured that is still available will be linked below).  My coat has all the qualities of a good winter coat.

First, it is lined with the softest fur to keep me warm, which is important in 10 degree weather.  Second, it cinches in at the waist with a belt to tie and achieve a nice shape so that the coat is not overwhelmingly puffy.  Third, the outside of the coat is made of a waterproof easy to wash material, which is important.  This reason being that if it happens to get some snow on it, it will be easy to wash and not become ruined.  Last, by personal preference, the color of the coat is white, which is my favorite color for winter coats because it is going to be worn with many different outfits and the color white compliments almost every color it is paired with.  When buying a winter coat I look for all the qualities I described above.

Another crucial piece to wear in the snow is a warm scarf. The scarf that I am wearing is a pastel pink knit infinity scarf from Claire's.  I especially like infinity scarves because they don't dangle out of the bottom of your jacket and more of the scarf can be shown when wearing your jacket because it covers more of your neckline then regular scarves. I like that  the scarf is pastel pink because it gives the outfit a pop of color and adds a warm winter look when worn with a winter coat.

You can't walk in the snow without boots!  In the snow you need to wear boots that are warm and not made of a material where water can be absorbed or leave stains.  The boots that I am wearing are the Women's Uggs Classic Cardy in black.  This specific style of Uggs are made of a cotton material so water dries just as it would on a shirt or a pair of jeans, which means that it is not a big deal if they get wet.  On the inside the boots are fur lined to keep your feet warm, and on the outside the knit material adds a cozy look to the outfit.

When in the snow jeans are the best choice of pants because they are warm, thick, and water does not stain them. So, you can wear your favorite jeans worry free!  They are much warmer and thicker then sweatpants or leggings, easy to wash, and make the outfit look pulled together.  The jeans that I am wearing are light wash jeans from Abercrombie kids.

Those are my tips on how to dress your best in cold weather wear.   Now, the next time you venture out into the snow it will be in style!  Until next time, stay warm!

Winter Shadowbox DIY

In the winter and especially around the holidays it's fun to decorate your room.  In this post I am going to show you one way I decorated this season; with these sparkling, festive, winter shadow boxes!  I made a big one to sit on my dresser and a smaller one to hang on my wall.  You will learn how I created my shadow boxes so you know the basics and get some ideas of how to make and decorate your own!

Materials

* All materials were purchased from Michael's craft store

   ~Glittery background paper

                                                                                        ~ Shadowbox frames

~Bottom fillers (I used jingle bells and mini ornaments)

~Things to hang (I used snow flake ornaments)

~Other decorations (I used ribbon and  sparkling leaves)

                                                                  ~Lose glitter

I started with the larger frame, took the back off and traced it onto a piece of glitter paper.

I cut the paper out on the line and glued it on to the frame.  I took the top inside of the shadow box and hot glued ornaments so they would dangle inside the frame and let it dry.

To give the box a frosty look I mixed different colored glitters and smeared then on the inside glass part of the box.

Then, I filled the bottom of the box with jingle bells and closed it.

To add a finishing touch I hot glued ribbon around the edge of the frame.  Below is the finished product!

Now began to work on the second, smaller shadow box.  I repeated the step with the glitter paper and after filled the bottom of the box with mini ornaments and closed it.

To give the frame a little more sparkle I took one of the bunches of glitter leaves, laid  it out on the glass part of the frame, and hot glued it down.

So I would be able to hang the frame I hot glued a ribbon in a loop to the back top of the box.  Below is the second finished product!

Winter shadow boxes are great decorations and make a perfect holiday gift to enjoy all winter long.  Have fun creating your own!

Snowy Winter's day OOTD

Today I am going to do an outfit of the day to be worn on a snowy winter's day!  The focal point of this outfit is the sparkling cream colored sweater from Aeropostale which reminds me of snow. I am also wearing super light wash jeans from Hollister which have a winter ice coloring to them.  Of course you wear boots in the winter and I'm wearing my favorite, baby pink Uggs. To finish off the look I put on a snowflake neckless that I got as a gift and the outfit is complete!  This outfit has a winter snow like sparkle and will keep you warm and cozy on a snowy winter's day.  The items mentioned that are still   available are listed below.
